  10. I grew up on Teasley Lane..not very far from Old Alton Bridge....I have only encountered "The Goatman" once. I was a 10th grader in Oct of 1996, me and some freinds were hanging out by the bridge late at night, and heard horrible laughter and saw glowing eyes from the woods(we had all cut our teeth hearing the stories/legend since our childhood)...Trust me we ran like hell and didnt stop until we reached "Southridge Baptist Church" parking lot. But ever since that night I cant help but get goose bumps and cross myself every time I pass by that Bridge...an after thought does anybidy know where I can find more info on the weeping woman mentioned on this site?...anyway very cool website..glad I found it!!

  11. I graduated from Lewisville High School in the early 80's and a visit to Goatman's Bridge was virtually part of the curriculum. Had an interesting incident there in 1986, while taking my girlfriend and two other friends from Dallas to the bridge late one night:

As we approached the bridge from Copper Canyon just onto Old Alton Rd., I slowed down and began telling the legend to the three girls. After 30 yards or so, the headlights on my '80 Mustang suddenly went out--completely on their own. A little spooked, I jiggled the switch to no avail as the girls laughed at what they thought was part of the act. Thinking I was going to have to backtrack to find some external light to see what I was doing while trying to get the headlights working, I put the car into reverse and crept backward. After about 5 feet, the lights came back on by themselves! I exclaimed "that's really weird" and confessed that I wasn't responsible for the lighting aspect of the show, then stopped the car to forge ahead on our adventure toward the bridge. I put the car in gear and lunged forward a few feet and THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AGAIN! At this point, the girls were screaming and I was sufficiently creeped out myself, so I backed up to leave…AND AGAIN THE HEADLIGHTS CAME ON! Without any semblance of an explanation and more than a little terrified, I peeled out of there with the shrieking girls as fast as I could get the car going on the (at the time) gravel road.

I am sure there is a scientific explanation for the events that night, but I have never found it. I had never had difficulty with the headlights on that car before or after that night. Do I believe that there was some sort of paranormal activity surrounding my car’s electrical system? No. I don’t think I’ve ever been more frightened though. To this day, the events of that evening are a real mystery.

  12. Ok...I am curious as to why the blog admin. deleted all the other comments on here and there is only 2 stories that have been posted since 1938. Are there no stories from the paranormal groups that investigate this bridge? I would think so if this can happenas well as other things. What brought me here is I am watching My Ghost Story: Caught on Camera. I have lived in Texas most of my life and haven't heard of this and I do believe in the paranormal so I wanted to find out where it is to go check it out one day. But the lady in TV said she did go to the bridge on Friday the 13th. But it says to go on Halloween. Would like more info...accurate info on this please. Is there a certain day? A certain time? Do you have to honk the horn? Has anyone gotten pics of the glowing eyes or recorded sound of this inhuman growl? Some of these places are made up as Urban Legends. So I just don't want to waste my time if this is not real. I would love to join a paranormal group.

    1. There is a episode of Ghost Adventures where they caught the eyes several times. But, the eyes they caught were the Shadow Wolves that make that area their home, not the Goatman and not demons. Please, if you go there, DO NOT chase them.

    1. Hi Ann, I’m not a member of any paranormal group, but was just curious about the stories surrounding Goatmans Bridge.

The ghost stories surrounding the bridge appear to be real. I was doubtful until I ventured out there one night with a friend about 2 am and took random pictures. I left with a camera full of ghost like cloud imagines and orbs (tons of them) in the pictures. Also the sounds of footsteps rustling in the leaves that literally chased us out of the park..

The story didn’t end after leaving the park. Whatever spirit was lurking that night followed us home and to my job. I captured it on photo (….and it was actually siting in the back seat of my car one night when I took the photo). The photo of what appears demonic hands on the windows of my car and a red demonic face appeared in the pictures, the details of which are indescribable of what look like four heads attached to one head.
The friend that accompany to goat man’s bridge that night was a target for this thing and was attack and sent to the hospital about 2 weeks later. We have since been rid of this entity.

I’m not sure if these experiences collaborate or is consistent to the experiences with the paranormal groups that have visited the bridge or if my experience was just a single event that no else has experienced before, nevertheless I took it very serious.

I do NOT encourage anyone to visit Goat-man’s bridge even if you don’t believe in supernatural

  17. Me and a friend went to go here around 2 am, but the road was blocked by a car sitting there with its headlights on. When we pulled up, they started honking and turned off their headlights. We quickly turned around to leave and they followed us out with their headlights still off. After we left they reversed back. It was really weird.

  24. People, please do not aim ancient rituals to remove demons at the low (only a foot or two above the ground). They are not demons, they are Shadow Wolves. This area is their home. They have been there a lot longer than people have lived in this area, they are not harming anyone by living out here and they are NOT evil. People see their glowing eyes when they go out to the woods around Alton Bridge because they are very curious. They just want to observe why humans would venture into their territory late at night. They are not going to harm anyone unless provoked. Chasing them and trying to use ancient rituals to banish them (as demons) from their home is very provoking.
